Come One...Come Many
You may not know it, but we are in need of a few good volunteers at MABCR. No matter what your time constraints, we can use your help. It's also a great opportunity to be on a working farm, with cool sheep and great dogs. Read below and see if any of these opportunities are right for you or your group. If the answer is YES, OF COURSE. email SLR@mabcr.org
Weekly Clean Ups: each week we need folks to come out to the farm and help with clean up. There are dog areas that need to be cleaned, play areas that need some love, donations organized and of course dogs to be played with when the work is all done!
Farm Days: We schedule farm days where people are invited to help us maintain the farm where we house and care for our dogs awaiting adoption. This work may include raking leaves, patching fences, building pens and making new friends. Is fencing , renovation or beautification something you are good at or would like to give it a try? email us!
Break Away- A Week of Service: College groups, Corporations and social groups are encouraged to sign up for Border Breaks- A Week of Service. These are week long stays at the farm working on large and small projects. Accomodations are provided on the farm for up to 10 people. An agenda is set for the week. Each week is specifically designed to accomodate your groups' needs. It may include field trips, speakers, and team building. Pot luck meals are included. All transportation is the responsibility of the group. A group we hosted for their alternative spring break at the farm are featured in this video. check it out!http://vimeo.com/21143018
Break Away Needs starting March 2014:
We have several schools taking part in our Break Away program. Lucky Us! To make it a great success, we need help pulling it all together. We have college students to feed, house and entertain AND we need project supervisors for our grand TO DO list over a 3 week period.
If you are able to donate a meal or supplies for a meal- please let us know! Or, if you are a skilled carpenter, or great project manager, we need you too! We have the volunteer help, we just need to provide them with enough leadership to get it all done right! Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to take part.
VICTORY FARM COMMUNITY GARDEN: At the farm, along with our lovable border collies, we also have a community garden. It's just another way we give back to the communites we serve. This vegetable garden is planted, cared for and harvested to help feed people in the community who need it most. We always need volunteers to help maintain the garden, so if gardening is your speciality- email us please!
If you don't have time to help but are ready to donate- here is a list of things we are in need of....
You can help rescued Border Collies immediately by making a tax deductible donation to Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue (MABCR) through PayPal. All donations to Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue go towards caring for rescued Border Collies! You can direct your donation to the Fearing-Lowder Medical Fund or to our general fund. Donations of any size are gratefully accepted.
