Information for Shelters

Welcome to our website. We hope you find these pages to be informative and helpful. If you have further questions after review of these pages, please feel free to e-mail me directly at SLR@mabcr.org.

We are able to take the following dogs into rescue:

Purebred Border Collies (occasionally other pure bred herding dogs)
Typey mixes who are very special dogs.
Older Border Collies in good health (I have no age restrictions assuming the dog is in good health and has a solid temperament)

We cannot take the following dogs into rescue:

Aggressive dogs, either with people or other dogs
Very 'dirty' dogs (dogs that forget their excrement once it has left their body)
Sick dogs (unless it is not contagious and is easily cured)

All of MABCR dogs are neutered prior to leaving rescue, dogs are on Heartworm Preventative, and are up to date on inoculations. We do prefer that dogs coming from a shelter are inoculated against distemper and rabies, but that is not mandatory.

All dogs that are placed through MABCR are placed into pet or working homes where they are to live in the home with their human family. We place dogs according to energy level and temperament; working dogs will go to working homes.

In all we try to be very careful about where our dogs go, as we care very much for each and every one!

Please see our forms in the menu on the right side of this page.
