I wanted to drop you a quick note and thank you for your help in adopting our new puppy, Mya. We have decided that she is a Mya.
She crated very well on the way home and was very well behaved in Petsmart. Although by the time we got her to Petsmart she was very hungry and we had to open the bag and feed her in the store. We bought her food, treats, toys, chews, a leather leash and a pick heart shaped tag with her name and phone number.
She got a warm welcome from Romeo, but the cats have avoided her completely. Romeo is jealous but has been very sweet to her. I am spending a lot of time making sure he does not feel slighted.
I put her crate in my bedroom last night, so even though she was crated, she was not alone. She was quiet and slept all night with two potty breaks. I did hear her cry when we left this morning, but my mom will stop by a couple of times today to take her for a quick walk and give her a potty break, so it won’t be so long till I get home.
We are very in love with her and she has such a sweet pleasant disposition. Yesterday was quite an eventful and stressful day for her and she handled it beautifully.
We want to give her a couple of days to adjust and settle in, in hopes that she can attend her first SAR training on Thursday.
By the way, I was worried that we would have to come back and trade dogs, my son cried so hard for the little male. However, he has recovered and is bonding with Mya. She is quite a charmer!
